AfricanX Training Run heads to Stellenbosch

Trail runners preparing for the 2017 Cell C AfricanX Trailrun presented by ASICS can get a taste of what to expect from the event by attending the AfricanX training run in Stellenbosch on Friday, 16 December 2016. According to Dawid Visser, ASICS FrontRunner, the Stellenbosch trails offer different variances in terrain. “Runners will get a good idea of what to expect at the AfricanX. The route will be mostly jeep and single track. The weather is sure to be warm, while the trails will be dusty.

It’ll be the perfect opportunity to start testing their hydration packs and nutrition. After our fist training run we realised that most runners are concerned about coping for three days over a moderate to hard trail. The key is specific training and getting the nutrition right. This can be discussed with any of our ASICS FrontRunners at the training run which is free of charge and ideal for trail runners of all fitness levels.”

“Runners must, however, be able to run at least 15km on the road,” continues Visser. “This will just make the training runs more enjoyable. The Training Run will give runners a good idea of how to prepare over the festive season, training and how to try out their gear and nutrition for race day.”

Other ASICS FrontRunners joining in on the fun will include: Nicholas Rupanga, Brendan Lombard and Wietse van der Westhuizen.
