The organizers of the FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Events have welcomed BMW as the event’s official vehicle partner in 2017.

“We are proud to welcome BMW as the official vehicle partner to the FNB W2W MTB Events,” says Michael Meyer, FNB W2W MTB Director. “Words that are synonymous with both BMW and W2W include: luxury, pleasure, performance and prestige. It’s with great excitement that we align the ultimate driving machine with the Western Cape’s ultimate three-day MTB stage race. Together with BMW we look forward to hosting a memorable MTB experience like no other.”

“We are pleased to partner with the FNB W2W MTB Events. The partnership is synonymous with the BMW brand and its values, especially right now as we have just most recently wowed the Sports Activity Vehicle segment with the new-generation X3 thanks to its sporty performance both on and off the road. We (BMW Lifestyle) have also partnered with premium bike manufacturer Specialized by presenting the ideal travel companion for anyone seeking to explore new routes, test out their limits and enjoy an unbridled sense of independence and freedom over all terrains with a limited-run special edition of the Specialized Turbo Levo: the Specialized for BMW Turbo Levo FSR 6Fattie,” says Lou-Anne Fitzsimons, Director of Sales and Marketing at BMW Group South Africa.

“While BMW has stunning design and infinite versatility, Specialized has raised the bar for two-wheelers with its Turbo Levo FSR 6Fattie. Therefore it makes perfect sense for us to be a part of the FNB W2W. We wish all rider participants the best of luck,” Fitzsimons adds.

Founded in 2009, the annual event hosts four thousand riders competing in two-person teams over 70-80km per day. The race format consists of three consecutive, separate, but identical events over ten days (named ‘Adventure’, ‘Ride’ and ‘Race’) – allowing riders to choose the appropriate option that suits their level of competitiveness. With entries selling out each year, FNB Wines2Whales is regarded as South Africa’s premier three-day mountain bike stage race.
