Entries are open for South Africa’s premier three day stage trail run, the Cell C AfricanX Trailrun presented by ASICS.

Taking place the weekend of 17 – 19 March 2017, teams of two trail running enthusiasts (male/female/mixed) will be seen battling it out on a route varying in distance between 22km – 34km each day.

According to Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, the Cell C AfricanX Trailrun presented by ASICS attracted a record field of entrants in 2016, most of which were newcomers to the event. “This is truly exciting for us as event organisers,” continues Meyer. “Our goal is to build on this excitement. Taking into account the valued feedback received from runners, our team is already hard at work planning an event that will exceed all expectations. Together with the support of our valued sponsors, we look forward to welcoming runners to the start line in 2017.”

“The 2016 Cell AfricanX Trailrun exceeded our expectations,” says Doug Mattheus, Cell C Executive Head of Marketing. “Watching participants in action over the three day period, witnessing them cross the finish line completely exhausted but with a sense of accomplishment, was in itself a memorable experience. AfricanX has proven to be a truly special event that attracts an exceptional field of athletes. We are proud to be associated with this premier event and look forward to experiencing the action again in 2017.”

“With the 2016 race still a fresh memory, ASICS is very excited that entries for the 2017 Cell C AfricanX are already open,” says Dawid Visser, ASICS Promotions and Training Specialist. “The 2016 event attracted the largest and strongest field of entrants. We are sure that 2017 will be even better. How much do you #WANT IT MORE for 2017!”
