Trail running enthusiasts preparing to take on South Africa’s premier three day stage trail run, the Cell C AfricanX Trailrun presented by ASICS, will be pleased to hear that the 2016 event boasts a whopping prize purse of R167 000.

Trail running enthusiasts preparing to take on South Africa’s premier three day stage trail run, the Cell C AfricanX Trailrun presented by ASICS, will be pleased to hear that the 2016 event boasts a whopping prize purse of R167 000.

“The amazing support of our sponsors has enabled us to show our gratitude to runners for their support by offering a notable prize purse at what will be the 8th running of the Cell C AfricanX Trailrun,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Our route building team has been hard at work ensuring that all three stages will far exceed the expectations of entrants. The Festival Village on the grounds of the Houw Hoek Inn will be a welcomed oasis for tired runners looking to relax, while relishing the vibe of this memorable race. We’re looking forward to a weekend of spectacular trail running.”

Top teams to look out for over the weekend will include: Ben Brimble and AJ Calitz, Johnny Young and Nicholas Rupanga, Edwin Sesipi and Givemore Mudzinganyama, Nic de Beer and Devon Yanko, Pieter Calitz and Chad Gordon, Rohan Kennedy and JC Visser, Landie Greyling and Megan Mackenzie, Carla Van Huyssteen and Natia Van Heerden, Chantel Nienaber and Katya Soggot, Yolande Maclean and Ann Ashworth and Leilani Scheffer running with Dawid Visser.

Event Information: Cell C AfricanX Trailrun presented by ASICS

Teams of two (male/female/mixed) will be seen battling it out on a route varying in distance between 22 – 36km each day. The three routes have been planned in such a way that the participants will have the opportunity to tackle a different breath-taking scenic route each day, allowing them to enjoy the full beauty of the Overberg.

Date: 11 – 13 March 2016
Format: Three-day stage race / teams of two (male/female/mixed)
Venue: Festival Village on the grounds of the Houw Hoek Inn
Distance: Between 22km – 36km each day

Entries are limited to 350 teams.
