Stellenbosch – FITstrong is taking their motto of “Get Fit Get Strong Get Living” one step further by training members to take on their very first IMPI Challenge the weekend of 17 and 18 October 2015 at the picturesque Lievland Wine Estate, Stellenbosch (Cape Town).

“At FITstrong we test mobility, flexibility, balance, concentration, strength and endurance all at once,” says Trevor Lagerwey, FITstrong Co-Owner. “We strive to eliminate all the hassles of conventional gyms and instead focus on creating a clean, spacious and active atmosphere and lifestyle. The IMPI Challenge is everything but conventional. It is tough and has some pretty hectic obstacles, but it is fun and definitely worth doing. It toughens up the body, the mind and the soul. We challenged one of our members, Louis Cilliers, to take on the IMPI Challenge in October. The training schedule that we tailored for Louis includes Bootcamp, FITstrong, Obstacle Course and Gladiator classes, these include a lot of cardio, body weight exercises and some crossfit based weight training. The obstacle course classes include rope climbs, wall climbs, monkey bar climbs and more. Our team will be out supporting on the day, while a number of us will even be taking part in either the IMPI Elite or IMPI Challenge races”.

According to Cilliers, he needs a goal to work towards. “When I started at FITstrong I weighed over 132 kilograms. I now weigh 98 kilograms and am thankful to the great people at FITstrong for improving my health and changing my lifestyle. At this stage my goal is to finish IMPI in a good time and without struggling through any obstacles.  Currently I am training between four to nine times per week, depending on my work schedule. To keep my training exciting I am mixing it up between crossfit classes, cardio classes and running. I am looking forward to testing my fitness level, while experiencing the overall spirit and camaraderie of the IMPI Challenge”.
