2016 SkyRun Champion, Christiaan Greyling, returned to his adventure racing roots this past weekend and took the championship title at the LedLenser Wartrail presented by Fluid held in the iconic Witteberg Mountains in Lady Grey. “I had a successful 3 days in the mountains this past weekend,” says Christiaan. “3 days of Adventures – a 60km mountain run not for the faint-hearted, a 120km MTB for the toughest and a 63km paddle for the strong mind. A journey which will definitely prepare you for life. The Wartrail was a real challenge and indeed delivered the answers which I came to seek!”

“We had some of the best weather ever this weekend, although it was a tad hot the conditions were good,” says race organiser Michael de Haast from Pure Adventures. “We had a nice field that started and especially in the non-stop event where we had a record number of entries. We are delighted that the 2016 SkyRun winner Christiaan won Wartrail as I know his focus has been purely on running for the past couple of years, so this just shows what a strong athlete he is!”

Christiaan completed the three stages in an overall time of 21hrs15min26sec, he was followed in 2nd place by Leo Sorensen in a time of 21hrs37min30sec and Jaco Laurens in 3rd position in 22hrs00min00sec.
