Join us for a special events weekend!

Experience the amazing trails, picturesque views, tranquillity and hospitality that the small town of McGregor offers as we present a mountain biking and running festival over the weekend of 11-12 September 2021

We’ve decided to celebrate the 10th edition of the Ride2Nowhere and 5th edition of the Run2Nowhere over one special weekend.

We are 10 years old! The 2021 Ride2Nowhere is Refreshed, Revamped and Renewed, for a special 10th edition of this wonderful event. We have a ride for everyone, keeping true to the spirit of mountain biking #fortheloveoftheride.

“Changing the Ride2Nowhere to a 2-day event offers riders the opportunity to be able to breakaway for the weekend and still get a bunch of proper mountain biking done… We are super proud to be able to celebrate 10 years of offering a magnificent mountain biking weekend for mountain bikers.” says route director Con Viljoen.

Although the event has changed from a 3- to a 2-day ride, riders would still have the opportunity to ride on the road to nowhere in the “Die Galg Road2Nowhere Gravel Challenge”. The Ride2Nowhere takes its name from this historic road through McGregor into the mountains. Known as “the road to nowhere”, riders in their own time can take this ride up towards “Die Galg” where the road to nowhere mysteriously ends. This challenge is to the top of “Die Galg Mountain” which is the end of the road to nowhere 21km from town (42km total for the out and back ride). You can start anytime between 12:00 and 14:00 on Friday 10 September, departing from the McGregor Dutch Reformed Church Grounds. Once entered riders will be invited to a Strava club to upload their result and a winner will be selected from there. (Entry fee is R150)

As the flagship event of the weekend, the 2-day Ride2Nowhere offers a long route known as the McClassic (around 70kms per day) and short route known as the McLite (around 50kms per day) options. Experience proper mountain biking trails covering various terrain with beautiful views of the valley and surroundings of McGregor. It is a unique opportunity to explore this remote region of the Cape on a mountain bike by getting access to routes and trails you wouldn’t on any other day. The riding is typically ‘Karoo’ – rugged, technical and lots of fun. None of those groomed trails that see countless wheels per year.

Don’t miss out on our special 10th edition of the Ride2Nowhere! Included in the entry fee of R2,750 is a special 10th edition race pack, with all the other usual perks: One FREE coffee & beer daily, 2 water points daily, well stocked with delicious snacks & drinks (Covid19 restrictions dependent), recovery drink and snacks at the finish line (Covid19 restrictions dependent), Namgear bike wash daily (Saturday and Sunday), Finisher Medal, timed event results, Land/Nature reserve access permits, medical support on and off route, race village access to relax and socialize post event, including kids play area (Covid19 restrictions dependent), and shower & toilet facilities at the race village. The event is known for its festive and relaxed atmosphere, and we welcome family and friends to be a part of this special weekend. More information and entry details available on

With a RUN-RIDE entry option available (Run Saturday and Ride Sunday) you can choose the experience the best of both celebrations by experiencing to trails on foot and bike. Entry fee for this option is R2,050.

We’re also celebrating the 5th edition of the Run2Nowhere! The 2021 edition of the Run2Nowhere offers a run for everyone and for those that do it #fortheloveofthetrail! It is the perfect opportunity to bring your partner or friends along, and everyone can enjoy participating in one of the events while enjoying the piece and tranquility of McGregor.

The trail run offers three route distance options over the two days: McEasy (R900), McClassic (R1,350) and McBrave (R1,550). It’s jam packed with challenging terrain and typical trail running rewards, consisting of mainly single tracks, a few open gravel roads and some steep climbs with amazing views. Due to the moderate running distances and climbing per day participants have the opportunity to spend the afternoon exploring the town or relaxing with friends and family – making it an ideal weekend away to enjoy country life and the outdoors!

Included in the entry fee each runner will receive: special 5th Edition race pack, 1 x complimentary coffee daily, 1 x water point daily, well stocked with delicious snacks, coke & water (Covid19 regulation dependent), recovery drink and snacks at the finish line (Covid19 regulation dependent), transfer to Day 2 start at Lord’s Wines, finisher medal, timed event results, land/nature reserve access permits, well-marked spectacular routes, medical support on and off route, shower & toilet facilities at the race village, hospitality area to relax and socialise post event, including kids play area  (Covid19 regulation dependent)
