MiWay SUN CITY ULTRA Triathlon draws record field

With official entries now closed for the 3rd annual MiWay SUN CITY ULTRA on the 7th May, a record field of over 1300 athletes will descend upon the Pilanesburg and the SUN CITY Resort to compete in what is arguably, SA’s top up-country triathlon.

Sun City provides the magical backdrop for a race that seems to be run in total paradise. The Resort which has long been known for hosting iconic events, will welcome 1300 Triathletes and their families to a day of fun filled entertainment in 4 weeks-time.

The racing gets underway at 7:15am with the Sprint Event which comprises of a 600m swim/20km cycle and 5km run. These short distance athletes are potential Ultra race competitors in the near future as they put their heads down and give it their all in this short, action packed race. It will also feature a number of the country’s top juniors and U23 athletes as they use this Ultra Sprint Tri Series as a stepping stone to their international events.

Next up will be the Ultra Triathletes who will tackle the longer Ultra course over the 1.9km swim/90km bike and 21km run. The ULTRA race athletes some of whom will be racing off the back of their Ironman training, will use this last throw of the dice to set some PB’s before they go into their winter hiatus. Sun City in May offers some of the best weather year round with fantastic temperatures that have personal best times written all over it.

Apart from the day’s racing activities, families will join and enjoy the rest of what the resort has to offer. The Valley of the Waves being a major draw-card for the athletes both on the Saturday before race day and as a relaxing activity after racing on Sunday.

For those athletes that missed the boat and forgot to get their entry in by close of business, you are in luck. The ULTRA Series organisers have offered up another 50 late entry slots for the Sprint Triathlon and 100 slots for the Ultra Triathlon. You have from today until the 25th April to take advantage of this late entry offer. Don’t delay, join the other 1300 athletes at one of the best valued events you will ever attend to. The ULTRA TRI Series with 4 events nation-wide has grown into one of  SA’s leading Triathlon Series’ with athletes clamoring to earn their respective finish medals
