The third of the Dirtopia 2016 Enduro series offers two days of trail riding this weekend on the well-known Welvanpas trails. The start and finish will be hosted by Val De Charron wine & olive Estate, with wonderful facilities like a restaurant, accommodation and incredible views of the mountains.

The Enduro events are geared for real mountain bikers that enjoy singletrack and are fit enough to ride up hills, but more importantly like riding downhills fast! Therefor more adrenalin junkies like downhillers enjoy this discipline of the sport, but the lady participation is growing and young riders are enjoying it too!

Riders are only timed on certain stages, which are mostly downhill singletrack. The routes are not that technical, but when done at fast speeds, do get tricky… There are normally on average four special stages in a day of the event, and riders go to the start of the next stage in ‘neutral’ or ‘liaison’ sections. This creates a social atmosphere and gatherings at the well-stocked refreshment station, as no-one are in a hurry.

All participants will receive a free beer at the finish and if you enter both days, a goodybag with socks. Prizes from the estate, as well as products from Leatt, Csixx and Giant bicycles.

“We are proud to host another Enduro at this beautiful venue with it magnificent restaurant, accommodation and even kiddies play area. Riders contribute to the trails with their entry, while our trail team will do some tweaks to the stages.” said event partner Arina Botha.

Pre-entries only are taken, so visit www.dirtopia.co.za to enter online by Wednesday evening. The total distances do not matter, as the an-aerobic exercise you get is enough to tire the fittest of riders. Timing is done with Amarider Trail Tags and times are live on raceday. Although there are prizes for the top males & females and medals for all, the event is about pure mountain bike riding. Category prizes for top riders for both days.

Fees start at R300 per rider and you can call the Trail Centre at 0218844752 for any queries. Two more Enduro events planned for 2016 happening on 21 August & 13 November.
