Momentum Weekend Argus Rotary Knysna Cycle Tour Road Event

KNYSNA (20 March 2015) – Entries to the Momentum Weekend Argus Knysna Cycle Tour presented by Rotary, taking place on 4 and 5 July 2015 as part of the ten-day Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival, are open.

One of South Africa’s most scenic cycling events with routes designed around Knysna’s spectacular forests and hills, the Momentum Weekend Argus Knysna Cycle Tour presented by Rotary offers two-days of cycling for the whole family, including 80 km and 50 km MTB races that are premier seeding events for the 2016 Cape Town Cycle Tour. Whatever your cycling ability, the Momentum Weekend Argus Knysna Cycle Tour has something for everyone, and all riders are invited to select a race according to their fitness level and ability, and enjoy the ride:

Saturday, 4 July: 80 km, 50 km, 30 km & 15 km Mountain Bike Events

Leon Evans (Dr Evil), who managed the world famous Absa Cape Epic routes, is responsible for the mountain bike routes for the Knysna Cycle Tour through scenic farmland areas that showcase the beauty of the Garden Route’s flora and fauna while delivering a challenging ride.

Sunday, 5 July: 109 km & 50 km Road Events

Following the 109 km road race route introduced in 2014, riders will be challenged by 1,577 m of climbing from Knysna to Sedgefield, to Karatara and Barrington, and back to Knysna, while 50 km riders will travel from Knysna to Sedgefield and return along the N2.

Sunday, 5 July: 2.4 km, 1, 8 km & 500 m Spur Rotary Knysna Children’s Tour

This year offers new exciting routes that start from the official festival venue, planned to be fun and safe while offering spectators a good view of the races.

Entry fees:               500 m Race             (2 – 4 yrs.):                                                  R60

1,7 km                     (5 – 7 yrs.):                                                  R60

2,8 km                     (8 – 10 yrs.):                                               R60

NEW! Sunday, 5 July: 30 km Forest Family Dam Ride

The 30 km ride is for MTB riders of all ages and competency, including children over the age of 12. Moms, dads and kids can join in the fun for a relaxed, scenic ride suitable for everyone and including some indigenous forest routes. Whether you are a serious rider who intends competing in the other cycling events and can do with a change of pace, or you simply want to enjoy a healthy, chilled Sunday ride in the forest with family or friends, this fun event is great addition to the other cycling events.
