Grabouw (Western Cape) – A number of South Africa’s leading off road triathletes will be seen in action at the second annual Sanlam Cape Mile on Sunday, 07 February 2016 at the Grabouw Country Club, a mere two weeks before they take on the action of the Fedhealth XTERRA SA Championship at the same venue (19 – 21 February 2016).

The Sanlam Cape Mile is an exciting open water swim. Entrants can choose between an exhilarating mile (1.6km) and a refreshing 500m swim.

According to Stellenbosch based XTERRA athlete, Michael Lord, the inaugural Sanlam Cape Mile in 2015 was so much fun that he had to enter again in 2016. “The Sanlam Cape Mile fills a huge gap in the

Western Cape. What makes it extra special is its link to XTERRA Grabouw, an event that boasts a spectacular community vibe. After scoping out the XTERRA Grabouw course, XTERRA Warriors can take on the Sanlam Cape Mile, which is a great swim in the pristine Eikenhof Dam.”

“My goal will be to gain a feel for the water ahead of the XTERRA SA Champs,” continues Lord. “I will be taking part in the XTERRA Grabouw Full. My training will include a few swim sessions in the Eikenhof Dam leading up to the event. I am looking forward to enjoying a swim in one of the most beautiful settings that the Western Cape has to offer.   ”
