Runners taking on the much anticipated Totalsports Ladies Race in Johannesburg and Stellenbosch on Saturday, 09 August 2014 can feel proud knowing that their entry contributes towards PinkDrive, a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) that is committed to promoting breast cancer awareness and providing breast health education and services to men and women across South Africa.
“We are truly grateful to be the beneficiary of the Totalsports Ladies Race Johannesburg and Stellenbosch for the third year running,” says Noelene Kotschan, Founder and CEO PinkDrive. “The streets were abuzz with excitement at the 2013 events. Although the front ladies said that the competition was tough, it is still much easier than someone being diagnosed with breast cancer. Our main message that we’d like to get across is that early detection of breast cancer saves lives, and that cancer is a word and not a sentence. It is vitally important that we continue to reach as many South African women (and men), by taking health services to the public. Being part of the Totalsports Ladies Race brings us closer to our goal”.
“Our medical team will be on hand at both events,” continues Kotschan. “We will be offering free clinical breast examinations and answer any concerns that the participants and their families may have. We encourage participants to visit our ‘pink shop 4 cancer’ stand to pimp themselves pink. In Stellenbosch we will also have our own Blikkiesdorp ‘proudly pink and blue’ minstrels joining us”.
