The streets of Joburg will be bustling with activity on Tuesday, 09 August (National Women’s Day) with thousands of runners toeing the line to partake in the much anticipated Totalsports Women’s Race in support of PinkDrive.
“Entrants can expect an exciting on route experience,” says Hendrico Burger, Totalsports Women’s Race Technical Manager. “The Johannesburg route is slightly more challenging than that of the Durban and Cape Town events. There is a climb early on in the race, followed by some flat and downhill sections. The toughest part is at round about the 5km mark at the Constitution Hill section. Iconic landmarks to look out for on route will include: the Oriental Plaza, the Constitutional Court of South Africa, the Johannesburg Theatre and the Nelson Mandela Bridge to mention just a few.”
“The Totalsports Women’s Race Johannesburg is special in more ways than one,” says Mehlo Hlabangane of the Zonkizizwe Athletics Club. “Zonkizizwe has been the host club of the Totalsports Women’s Race in Johannesburg for six years. The event continues to grow in leaps and bounds. We are proud to support an event that celebrates the women of South Africa.”
