The 2017 Tour will be based at the spectacular La Paris Estate midway between Paarl and Franschhoek. The race incorporates five days of clover leaf racing over a total distance of 522km, with 6168m of vertical ascent.
5 STAGES – 490KM – 5218M ASCENT
Presented in the week leading up to the Cape Town Cycle Tour the 2017 Bestmed Tour of Good Hope is a date for all diaries. In an exciting new race format, comprising of a central race village hub, this 490km race includes 5218m of vertical ascent, encompassing five days of racing through this wonderful location in the Cape Winelands.
Through basing itself in Paarl/Franschhoek valley, the costs and logistical issues facing riders are significantly reduced. Traveling and accommodation are both simplified and cheapened, while the incorporation of some of the best and most famous cycling routes and mountain passes in the Western Cape distinguishes this race from all others.
Stage 1: Monday 6th of March: 103km, 900m ascent
Stage 2: Tuesday 7th of March: 37km, 250m ascent
Stage 3: Wednesday 8th of March: 135km, 1650m ascent
Stage 4: Thursday 9th of March: 131km, 1450m ascent
Stage 5: Friday 10th of March: 84km, 978m ascent
Amateur team competition
The organisers of the Bestmed Tour of Good Hope, presented by Scicon from 6-10 March 2017, have added a Team Time Trial to the 2017 event as well as incredible added value for riders who enter into the Amateur Teams category.
The team time trial will take place on the same day as the individual time trial (stage 2), but only riders entered as 8-man open/seeded teams in the team competition will compete in this discipline. Riders who enter as individuals in the open/seeded category as well as all other racing categories (elite/junior, Vets 30+, Vets 40+ Vets 50+ and elite ladies) will compete in the individual time trial on the triangular course which links Paarl and Franschhoek to La Paris.
