Following the success of the inaugural triathlon held last year, TriRock Durban has grown in leaps and bounds. Today they announced a partnership with a leading international supplier of technical performance eyewear and helmets, POC, distributed in South Africa by Pure Motion Sports.

POC is a Swedish company working from a strong mission to do the best they can to save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents for gravity sports athletes and cyclists. Currently triathletes, cyclists and mountain bike riders around the world use POC helmets and eyewear, with some winning the Olympics, World Championships and X Games, while others may just want the right protection to go biking at their favourite location.

Patrick Cawood, license holder and distributor for POC products in South Africa commented on the partnership, “Pure Motion are excited to partner with TriRock as their brand values align very closely with ours. Their event is growing nationally and are a perfect partners for us to reach an active market who will benefit from our product.” Pure Motion will supply TriRock entrants with a discount code to use on their online portal www.puremotionsports.co.za. “We will work closely with the event to ensure that we get benefits across to the entrants, providing them with discounts, prizes and chances to win these premium products,” Cawood said.

Event Director, Grant Kunneke was thrilled with the deal, “We welcome this world class brand into the mix and know that the athletes will benefit too. We are as concerned about our competitors safety and do everything possible to ensure this, so it is very much in keeping with what we want for our event.”

Entries for the event are more than 100% up on the comparative time last year, showing strong growth both for the event and sport. The field size is limited and will most likely reach the maximum as competitors are seeing added value through these partnerships coming back to them. This, in addition to the great race package they receive.

Athletes can prepare for more announcements in the coming days surrounding the partnership regarding the discounts and competition that will be run in the build up to the race itself on the 5th October this year.

Entries for the event are still open; see www.trirock-durban.com for more event information. The event caters for relay teams so any athlete wishing to complete an individual leg of the triathlon can do so as a team of three.
