A cold start to a mid winter event is what we signed up for…

With great excitement 250 riders lined up for the start of the 75km invitation event.

The start of the race was very well planned with nice open climbs along the the foot of the popular Coetzenburg mountain to split the fields up and giving the hot shots time for their expression sessions.

Moving along to the granny gear climbs of Hellshoogte berg with a early morning mirage, the first water point was in sight through my sweaty eyes.
Having time too catch my breath down the old Hellshoogte pass.

The real fun of the long sub 4 hour day was about to come out to play as we descended into the Knorhoek valley riding all the Murati and Delheim trails, quickly making you lose focus of the task at hand with big smiles all round.
Sharp switch backs and fast flowing tunnel trails.

Taking us across the R44 into Meurants play ground Delvera. Rocks jumps more out of category climbs before the 75k route lets up with some free milage trough Elsenburg along the valley to Stellenbosch.

With one last sting in the tail. Pappagaai berg.

With the trail tags it was assured that every single rider had a timed event that’s if you remembered to tag…

With big thanks to Dirtopia for hosting another class event.
